Dice Roller guide
Dice notation without the rulebook fog.
Learn the short format tabletop players use to describe rolls, then type the same notation into Dice Roller.
The basic pattern
XdY±Z means: roll X dice with Y sides, then add or subtract Z. 1d20+5 means one twenty-sided die plus five. 2d6 means two six-sided dice.
Examples
| Notation | Meaning | Use |
|---|---|---|
1d20+5 | one d20 plus five | D&D check or attack |
2d6 | two six-sided dice | board-game totals |
5d6+2 | five d6 plus two | big damage or house rules |
1d100 | one physical d100 | 100-sided die roll |
1d100-percentile | two d10 percentile dice | RPG random tables |
What this roller supports
Dice Roller supports d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100, with simple plus or minus modifiers. It intentionally keeps notation practical instead of trying to replace a full virtual tabletop macro language.
